Frequently Asked Questions

Visiting a new church can feel intimidating—you might wonder what to expect, where to go, or how things work. It’s natural to have questions and feel a bit nervous about stepping into a new place. To help ease any worries, we’ve answered some frequently asked questions. Our hope is that from the moment you arrive, you feel like part of the family.

What times are services?
We offer three different services every weekend: Saturdays at 5 PM and Sundays at 8 AM and 10:30 AM.
Where should I park?
For our traditional services, we recommend parking along Fourth Street and using the side entrance.

For our contemporary service, we recommend parking along Fifth Street. We kindly ask that only those in need of special assistance park on the east side of the street, closest to the church entrance.

Additionally, we have a parking lot with designated handicapped parking located behind the church, which is accessible from Oregon Avenue.
Is there something for my children?
At Bethlehem, we welcome children to worship alongside their families. During the 10:30 AM contemporary service, Pastor Joe shares a special message designed just for children, helping them engage with the service in a meaningful way.

Every Sunday morning at 9:15 AM, we offer Sunday School for children ages 3 through grade 6, providing a nurturing environment where kids can grow in their faith.
What should I wear?
There’s no strict dress code, but most people go with something in the business casual to smart casual range. Overall, think of it as dressing in a way that shows care and reverence—simple, respectful, and comfortable.

What People Are Saying about Bethlehem

  • My church journey began with a need of reaffirming my Christian faith in a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod denomination like previous generations of my family from long ago. In February 2025, Bethlehem Lutheran became the first LCMS church I visited. I never went anywhere else. The church is beautiful, and I was greeted warmly by the parishioners. That same evening, Pastor Joe Glombicki announced his acceptance as lead pastor at Bethlehem, and I instantly felt I belong here. It was a sign from above. I look forward to many years of worship here at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

  • Through [my husband] Dan's lifelong connection to Bethlehem, I was able to reignite my Christian faith by attending as a non-member for many years. Then, with Pastor Joe's acceptance as pastor in 2025, the time finally felt right to make it official. And I'm so glad I did! Thank you all for welcoming me to this beautiful church with a congregation that feels like family!

  • A family friend once told me that God isn’t always found in loud, dramatic moments, but often in a soft and steady whisper saying, “I am here.” At the time, I heard and remembered the words, but I didn’t fully understand that truth. But God, in His patience, showed me exactly what it meant. While living in downtown Chicago, He gently led me to my husband, Mike—someone I now clearly see as part of God’s intentional plan for my life. Through meeting Mike, his family, and eventually this church, I began to recognize that quiet whisper guiding me all along. In the days leading up to becoming a member here at Bethlehem, I kept sensing a simple but powerful message: “Welcome home.” God has shown me that my home is ultimately found in Him, and He has used my husband, our family, and this church to provide the stability and belonging I had long prayed for. I am deeply grateful to be a new member here, excited to see how God continues to work in and through this community, and how I can serve to bring God to the rest of the world as a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

  • Your congregation is so friendly and welcoming. Andrew also had such a great time in Sunday School that we had a hard time getting out of there because he wanted to stay and he even blew his teacher a kiss as we were leaving. He was also excited about the two crosses that he made for his papa and I.
