A BETHLEHEM CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE • VOLUNTEER!
MAY 15, 4:30PM • INFORMATIONAL MEETING+PIZZA!

Sunday, May 15 at 4:30 p.m. there is a special Christmas Event informational meeting. ALL ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME! Please attend and RSVP to Pastor Jim’s email or call the office so Bethlehem’s special Christmas event is a success, and so we order the right amount of pizza for dinner at the meeting!

Screen Shot 2016-03-20 at 8.17.01 AMAn exciting Christmas event is being planned for December 2016 and we need everyone’s help! What role can you play in this Christmas celebration and first annual production? We need shepherds, Marys, wise men, angels and more. Are you an angel? We need costumes, prop wranglers, set designers, coordinators, lighting & A/V experts and tour guides. We need greeters and minglers and parking assistants and much, much more. If you’re big talent is juggling, that’s one of the few things we don’t need but maybe you’d be great at something else like resetting sets after each tour group leaves one of the 7 stations. There’s a strong chance that you have other talents and interests that could fill a currently gaping hole in the crew putting this huge event together.

Maybe you’d like helping with snacks or sewing or setup or teardown or public relations or sign-making or background painting or costume changes or make-up or…the list is extensive for a big, new, public event and we’re positive almost everyone can help in some way. Any leads you have would also be appreciated on outgoing actor-types who could step in to be one of the many Marys or a Baby Jesus or any other characters that appear in multiple scenes. For a winter event, we’ll need doubles for every character per station. Since the story spans 7 scenes/stations, each actor will have no lines or a small number of lines to learn, rehearse and remember so it will not be a difficult project like a full-scale play where one character has to learn an hour of material. Actors may have a few lines in a scene that is 3 to 5 minutes shared with other actors.

Please see the sign-up sheets in church or at the office for all the roles available and talk to Pastor Jim about how your existing skills and talents best fit into making this Christmas at Bethlehem the first of many special ones to come!

PENTECOST!

The Holy Spirit came in a fuller and more special way at Pentecost–ten days after Jesus ascended into heaven. Without the Holy Spirit, we’re sitting ducks for Satan; with the Holy Spirit, he is no match. So, how do we ensure that we tackle our mission “clothed with power from on high?” Be sure to check out Pastor Jim’s Pentecost! article in your May newsletter where he tackles this topic and how we might approach this picture of the first church in the Book of Acts:

“They devoted them to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer…And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2: 42, 47

IMG_8407IF ONLY JESUS WERE AROUND

Satan loves the word “if” and how easily if-questions can create doubt. If God is loving, why does He allow tornados, wars, sin and people to go to hell? The list of questions is endless. Do you have questions? Do you wrestle with faith in today’s world where so many think they have all the (God-free) answers? If you’re interested in Jeff Daley’s take on this topic and how The Bible answers many of these questions, please read Jeff’s article in your May newsletter entitled If Only Jesus Were Around.

BETHLEHEM NEEDS YOU NOW!
