Bethlehem Lutheran Church will present Bethlehem Christmas Live! at no charge on Friday and Saturday, December 7 and 8, from 6:00 – 8:30 p. m. in West Dundee.

Travel through Bethlehem as the first Christmas comes to life. Experience live performances from the first Christmas to modern day on 30 minute guided outdoor walking tours that portray events before, during and after the birth of Christ.

The outdoor playlets in our churchyard will feature members of the congregation in costume on sets with sound effects and lighting. The live performances will include:

An Angel Appears to Mary: Mary learns from Gabriel that she will be the mother of Jesus

No Room at the Inn: Joseph and Mary hear they will have no place to stay for Jesus’ birth

Shepherds Hear the Good News: frightened, excited shepherds learn of the birth of Jesus

The Shepherds’ Visit: shepherds become the Holy Family’s first visitors

The Three Kings Visit: distant leaders bring gifts to the young Jesus

Today’s Savior: a struggling modern-day teenage girl who is being verbally bullied has an interaction with the adult

Guides will assemble small groups prior to beginning each outdoor experience. Dress for winter weather.

There will be indoor activities like crafts and cookie decorating and refreshments will be served. Parents can take pictures of their children with one of Bethlehem’s “Band of Brothers” comfort dogs either evening or with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Friday evening.

Check in at the 4th Street side entrance to the red brick church at 401 W Main St. in West Dundee.
